Five Ways to Open an Application on Windows

Hello, world readers.

I hope you would have much fun reading this article as I had writing it. I'm very sure that you would learn something and you won't regret.

Now, back to business, if you are new to computers, this is the right  place for you to learn. Don't let your heart panic or fear. It's just very simple like learning A, B, C.

Let's get started.

Using the Right-Click

This is one of the most common way to open an application on a computer. You want to know how to do this? Alright, it's so simple as this.

Step 1: On your desktop window, check for the logo or name of the application.

Step 2: Here, you just grab your mouse or place your finger on the touchpad of your laptop and move the cursor

placing it over the logo of the application.

Step 3: Can you see the button on the right side of your mouse or touchpad? Yeah, that is called the Secondary button. Wait! Don't press the button yet. I feel that you're wondering what it does. Well, here's the answer. You can simply say: it is used to make a drop-down menu appear which has options that you can simply use to affect, change or customize the file, document, folder or application it is related to.

Now you can press the button. This action you just took is called right-click. I believe you've seen the drop down menu.

Step 4: Among the options in the menu, you should see the option that says 'Open', it is the first option in the drop down menu. Click it by pressing the button on the left side of the mouse or touchpad which is called the Primary button. There, you have it. You have successfully opened the application.

It's much fun, right?

Let's check out another method.

Using Double-Click

This is one of the fastest way to open an application among the five methods. it's also more simpler to use than the right-click method. So, how do you go about it?

Step 1: Find the logo or name  of the application on your desktop window.

Step 2: Move your cursor over it. Don't let the cursor stay over the name of the application. Just let the cursor be over the logo.

Step 3: I believe you know what the primary button is. Press the primary button twice. This action you just took is called Double-Click.

The reason I said you should not let your cursor stay over the name of the application is because if you double click on the name of the application, the name of the application will be selected allowing you to rename it.

Using the Enter Key

This is another quick way to open an application on your computer. Here, we will use  the 'Enter' key on your keyboard.

Step 1: Move your cursor over the application on your desktop window.

Step 2: Click on it by pressing the Primary button once. This action is also called left-click.

Step 3: Then press the 'Enter' key on your keyboard and your application will open.

Using the Search Bar

Look at the bar at the left side of your taskbar. That is the search bar.

Step 1: Click on the search bar.

Step 2: Type in the name of the application. As you are typing, it will start to search.

Step 3: When you are done typing, it would display the search results.

Step4: Find the name of the application among the search results. When you see it, click on it once and your application will open.

Using the Start Menu

As you can see, there's a Window's logo

at the left side of the taskbar.

Step 1: Click the sign (I mean left click) once and a big bar would appear containing a list of the applications on you have on your computer.

Step 2: Find the name of the of the application you want to open.

Step 3: Then click it once and you application will open.

Wow! What a long way from start. Now, you know five ways to open an application.

These methods can also be used to open files, folders and documents.

If you have any other way to open an application, you can add it in the comment section below.

Difference Between Hard Disk Drive (HDD) and Solid State Drive (SSD)

Yeah! The difference between Hard Disk Drive and Solid State Drive is what most people want to know. I suggest that you first get to know both drives well and how they work. SSD and HDD Hard Disk Drives (HDD) HDD Hard Disk Drives are mechanical drives that uses magnetic storage to store data on a rotating platter. I know you would be wondering what a platter is and what it does. You can just say: A platter is a revolving disk that is positioned around a spindle. You are also wondering what a spindle is, haha, I know. A spindle is an actuator arm with a read/write head for each platter. There are also motors to spin the platters which in turn store and retrieve the data, at a speed ranging from 4200 rotations per minute to 15,000 rotations per minute which will actually result in a faster performance. Solid State Drives. What about it? Solid State Drives don't have moving parts and that is why they are said to be non-volatile storage drives that stores data on a solid-state (as the ...
